Which lights to purchase

I am an avid surefire user and have been collecting most of their lights. I just started browsing this board and noticed that there is a whole universe of lights other than surefires.

Except for the SL20X and Inove X5, I do not own any other lights other than surefire. I am interested in purchasing other lights and would like some advice into what lights to purchase. I have two questions:

(1) What are the different categories of lights I can purchase? (Example: "Pocket LED", "Non Compact LED", "high-power non-lithium compact", "high-power compact lithium")

(2) What is the best light to purchase within each given category?

Hi Duane and welcome to the "other" side of lights. I think you have the categories covered.
IMHO, 1; Arc-AAA
2; Arc-LS or a modded light that members here make with the LS (Luxeon Star)
3; Pt Surge
4; Asp Triad
In the recharge category there is the Streamlight US (UltraStinger)
