I have a couple of OG Fenix L0D Q4's on the way that I intend to use on keyrings. Is there anything readily available thai I can use or make to protect the lights from getting scratched up by keys and other items in my pocket.

I just let mine get beat up. Why would you cover the light up and then have to look at some taped up mess, never to see the pristine finish underneath.

I make a sheath out of tubular climbing webbing (1").

The tubing looks flat but is hollow once you cut the end.

Keep my light about 95% clean, and I get to appreciate it when I use it.

Options:

thin Bike tubing(will insulate heat though)
Shrink wrapping(will insulate heat)
Tape(might come off and will also insulate heat)
Enough O-rings(same as above)
If you can find someone to do it, Duracoat would probably be the best choice.

I would let the light get scratched. It was meant to be a tool.

The shrink wrap works well is is still thin so it's not bulky. Also I'm sure it insulates to some extent but I don't think it's much. The shrink wrap still gets warm to the tough if running for long periods on medium or bursts of high. I've been running a shrink wrapped LODCE on 10440s without issue.

perhaps we are looking at this at the wrong angle. wax dip the keys. :D

Excellent suggestion

A well-worn L0D can be a beautiful thing. It's more than just a flashlight, it's a trusted friend. You pull it out, noticing all those scratches and dings and remember all the times it has lit your way. Good times.

That's interesteing...I've got a huge sheet of that plastic in my garage. Now I'm going to have to practice heat forming it. :naughty:

I used it to make a cooling panel for my car in this pic you can see it in front of the radiator cooling fan (kinda):

The LOD fits in the LOP holster I have (Dual model), but it's tight, and I found the light took more abuse being inserted and removed from the holster than it did on a keyring.

I'm content to let my LOD's get beat up by my keys.
