I currently have a Fenix L2D Q5. Do you guys agree that besides it takes a different battery type it's almost the same light? I was thinking about getting a good quality light that takes RCR123A without any issues. But the more I think about it, the more I think I am getting a 'duplicate' light.

What do you guys think?

If your talking about output then you may not see a difference, its the size that's different its more pocket frendly IMO. The P3D Q5 also handles 3.7v RCR123 batteries without any problems.

L2D head uses a boost circuit. P3D head uses a buck circuit. L2D head is the same as the P2D head. They're not "duplicates", but pretty close. It depends on what batteries you plan on using.

The difference in voltage affects the efficiency more than wether it's boost or buck.

I.e- bucking from 10 to 3.5V is less efficient than boosting from 2 to 3.5 V, just as boosting from 3.5 to 10V is less efficient than bucking from 3.5 to 2V.
