What are some of lifes pleasures you enjoy and indulge yourself in?

Some of mine are:

1. Sitting outside in a hottub during a winter snow storm, the combination of sensations is equisite.
2. Walking through a pine forest after a snow.
3. Sitting out in the autumn woods, the colors explode the senses.
4. Playing with a flashlight on a dark night and watching the beam lance through the dark and illuminate that which you cannot see. Odd, but fun.
5. Listening to music while laying in a hot relaxing bath.
6. Reading a good fiction novel you can lose yourself in.
7. Riding motorcycle with no helmet on country roads, the closest thing to flying there is.
8. Watching the sweep of the second hand on a watch you truly like.
9. Shooting a bow, it is VERY zen and intensely relaxing and satisfying.
10. Shooting a firearm, well. It is very satisfying to spend the time needed to shoot well, shooting poorly is nothing but a frustration.
11. Sharpening a knife. There is a rythymn and concentration that is enjoyable and satisfying.
12. Writing a computer program. The problem solving, the methodical step by step prescion needed, are fun and satisfying.
13. Listening to music while driving.

There are many more but that is a few off the top of my head .

A few more:

1. A nice steak grilled outside over the coals, with a tangy salad with Catalina dressing, and as Alton Brown would say, a lovely beverage ate outside on the deck.
2. Watching the hummingbirds

1) Taking long showers.
2) Sleeping in the winter with an electric heater on my back.
3) Walking around Manhattan during the holidays.
4) Long walks or bike rides, usually around sunset.
5) Doing various science experiments just to keep my mind sharp.
6) Riding random lines on the subway.
7) Interacting with our cats.
8) Going through random channels until I find something worth watching.
9) Randomly surfing the internet looking for whatever subject pops into my head.
10) Predicting the evolution of technology, then sitting back, waiting a few years, and seeing if I was right.

In no particular order:

1: Back in the early-1990s, I spent a *LOT* of time writing computer programs in 6510 (similar to the 6502 CPU; but with 56 instructions) assembly language.
2: Running a dial-up BBS (something I did for ten years from mid-1989 to mid-1999).
3: Modifying BBS programs at the base level (making them more colorful, adding features, etc.).
4: Watching SpongeBob SquarePants while working on the computer.
5: Watching Viva Piñata on Saturday mornings (it's one of my favourite TV programs).
6: Listening to music (with earphones on) while working on the computer.
7: Saying good morning to and petting our kitty cats (they're technically my sister's cats, but I love them just the same).
8: Driving my electric wheelchair to the park to fly R/C aircraft.
9: Shining lasers around (indoors of course) just for the h-e-double-tippy-straws of it.

Another way of thinking about good things in life is to think about the hardships that, because of where I grew up and live, I've never had to suffer.

These include:

- hunger
- disease
- exposure
- filth
- brutality
- terror
- imposed ignorance
- grinding poverty
- uncaring family
- desparation
- hopelessness
- and all the rest which afflict so many others.

The many, many pleasures of my life are just minor tidbits scattered on that foundation of true blessings...

+1 on a good cup of coffee in the morning, or anytime on a chilly day.
Walking in the woods.
Building gadgets - there's something calming about using a soldering iron
Riding my bicycle
Petting small animals and seeing the comfort it brings them
Dark chocolate
Cream of tomato soup, especially on a chilly day
Catching an awesome sunrise - it stops me in my tracks

That's a very 'engineer' way to put it. ;)
