So, I dis-assembled my Nuwai 2AA far enough to expose the emitter and board. Its a low bin Rebel:thumbsdow. It doesn't have those little "dots" on the phosphor surface. I want to replace it with a 0080 or 0100 BIN emitter.

Whats the easiest way to go about this?
Somehow de-soldering the emitter from the board and replacing it? How do you de-solder these things? The solder pads are underneath the emitter:confused:

Replacing the whole board? FWIW, the board is not epoxied directly to the metal, its held in place with the screws only.

I was thinking about getting one of these and mod-ing it to fit my light, and expose the solder-traces...

Thanks!!

The rebel star from DX should work fine. You will need to trim the star down to size. Unsolder the old one while it's still in the light. Set it in a vise ( or similar ) heat the solder and then lift up the wire with a tooth pick. Don't forget to buy some thermal compound
