I lose the low setting when using Lithium non rechargeables, is this any problem for the light or the battery? Each cell is about 1.8 volts with no load. It looks just a little brighter on high with lithiums, is this thing unregulated on high?

Nope...I don`t think so. The voltage is probably just a tad high for it to regulate on low...

Yes, the energizer L91's. One was 1.78 volts and one was 1.76. Very slightly used. Almost new.

The L2D will loose the low modes above about 3.3v. Once the batteries are used a little, you'll get the low modes back.
