Romisen rc-g2 mod... help please :)

I need some advice modding an Romisen rc-g2 please

Can i just replace the led with http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3417 - CREE 7090 XR-E P4 with 16mm Base, do i need to replace the driver also or can the standard one run it ?

It wont be much brighter if you just replace the Led best changing the driver. I used Sku 7880, there is a big thread on this light with most of the mods on it. Here is a couple. SSC P4 is not bad either bit more flood than Cree P4 and Q5 whick both produde more throw.

Also on the sku.7880 are you using all 20modes ? or does the mod on this topic work ??

If you just swap emitter to this:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11022
You'll see the differnce (but not P2-P4). Driver swap is also good idea, you'll get much more light and the same runtime becauce stock driver is not very efficient.

Yes, the mod works. Just resolder the lead to the rim and it becomes a very good 1-mode driver (>700mA from a single AA).

In my own experience I noticed about a 20% increase changing drivers and upgrading to the Q5. It is most noticeable in the spill.

Well, I definately have alot to learn about actually taking these, but this should give you the basic idea. Both lights running on Sanyo Eneloop, Shot @2 feet from wall.

Does it effect the runtime much, sorry for all the questions

The runtime on both should be pretty close at 50min-1hr depending on the cell.

Thanks, Any other places to get that driver from that deliver to the uk, DX seems to be on back order, or any other drivers you could recommend ?

The 7880 board draws about 50% more current.

I measured 1.9A with the original setup (LED and board) and around 3.0A with the modified setup (SSC P4 and 7880 board).

So runtime will be about 1hr with the original setup and 30-40min with the modified one.
