I knew I should have waited and read more review but I couldn't resist and ordered this

I hope it's better than the MTE as this comes with a metal reflector and in an Ultrafire host. But I don't like much the lack of regulated output.
About the advertised lumen even if this spits out half , it's still pretty good bang

yeah I ordered this one too ... mainly due to the metal reflector and I don't want 5 modes.... who cares about details if its anywhere near 900 lumen for $45 ... the first reviews thru are mixed but for a back up in the car etc... it's pretty good IMHO... looking fwd to its arrival.

I went ahead and got one too- the reviews point out the obvious, not 900 lumens, but sounds like about 400 lumens or so. they also seem a touch brighter than the current crop of cree x 3 or cree x 4 lights that are everywhere. smaller size, one rechargable battery, lotsa lumens impress your friends. for 10 lumens per buck, hard to beat.

This flashlight (Ultrafire C8 with P7) seems direct driven which is bad because you don't have constant output. But it's also good because it pulls over 3A from freshly charged cell. This is not 900lm but over a 1000 (with good emitter) lumens!

I heard that the MTE wasn't regulated either. It's simply using PWM to set multiple modes. Besides, its mode switching isn't very reliable like most other MTE lights. You might need to press several times to make it work sometimes.

I am eager to see beam pattern on this Ultrafire C8.

It seems there's some regulation because MTE pulls 2,25A from freshly charged battery (P7 in C8 - 3,5A and 2,8A@3,8V).

You won't understand the words but it doesn't matter. There are comparison shots between something a la L2D turbo, Fenix T1 with Cree R2 WH, RaidFire Spear and Ultrafire C8 modded with P7 CSWOJ (DD).

I heard that MTE pulls 2.25A is because of high resistance of thin cable it uses in the light. Changing the cable would allow it to draw 2.8A.

Ordered one a couple weeks ago, and got an email yesterday stating it should ship shortly. Delay due to quality issues or demand?

I ordered MTE 5 modes P7 from DX and tested the flashlight. I used 18650 battery and run it for 10 minutes. The head of this light is not warm at all and yet the body is warm and I took off the battery and the battey is not warm at all, seem to be the body of this flashlight as a heat sink, I assumed that the plastic reflector will not get damaged at all because the head is not hot at all.

Now I ordered another one with only have 2 modes P7.

I had an order that just arrived from DX; minus my backordered MTE P7. So, I cancelled it and ordered this light, instead. We'll see.

My P7 one mode arrived and upon turning it on I almost fell off my chair. Holy sxxt! It's so bright I couldn't believe it.
However I reckon it may not throw as far as my WF-600 Q2. But with proper optics I'm pretty sure we will also have a heluva thrower with this P7 beast. Can't wait until DX sells a real P7 thrower. I'll be sold.
I'll do some beamshots later of the Ultrafire P7 vs WF-600 Q2.

MTE just have thin wires and 3 tiny dropping resisters. No regulation.

One problem with this C8 P7 is heat: after running for about 15 minutes, it got so hot it almost burn my hand when I tried to grab it.

ah, p7. daylight. running 2 123 primarys in my mte last night, on high/ceiling bounce it is actually brighter in my walk in closet than my 60 watt fluorescent bulb. bulb=800 lumens. led= ?

for the record, running 2 primaries may be frying this led on the mte. I am waiting for 18650 and charger to arrive. but led still works for now.
