I'm new to the forum, and LED lights.

I picked up an NDI, and have two 14500's on order w/ a charger.

I'm just wondering if it's bad to run an LED light for 'too long'.

I know heat is an issue, but what is 'too long'?

If you cannot comfortably hold the light with your hand, it's probably been on a little too long.

No problem with overheating, lower (than for example Fenixes) output using 14500 gives longer runtime and less heat.

Depending what level you set the NDI on, whether you're holding it or not, and the ambient temperature.

If you have the NDI set to maximum brightness, you should hold it since your hand will cool the flashlight down. If you're going to use it as a candlelight or worklight, you shouldn't use the max brightness (unless the temperature is cold).
