I've had my Nitecore Defender for 6 months now and it is an outstanding light. Looking at the led, I noticed what appears to be a crack in the led. Performance is still fine. I don't recall seeing this when it was new, but I saw this same line in ernsenada's review of new Romisen. Here's a pic of my light. Do some Cree's come this way? What is it?

BTW, Nitecore through Tadgear.com has agreed to replace the light if I want. :twothumbs

Another time, another place.
That line is where the + and - are separated. The small area at the top is positive and the larger area where the die is, is negative. All Cree emitters look this way.

Thanks for the explanation. I love this light and recommend it to anyone wanting a BRIGHT 1AA w/ forward clicky. I'm glad that I don't have to send it in.
