Good Question!!!

It is a stock Mag D switch that FiveMega modified to accept G6.35 bulbs with 1mm pins. Here is some more information.

"Switch also modified to heat sinked ceramic and accept G6.35 such as Osram 62138, 64610 and 64611"

"Osram 62138, 64610 and 64611 are G6.35 with 1mm pin thickness while Osram 64623 or 64625 bulbs are GY6.35 with 1.25mm pin thickness. Therefore won't fit."

Here is FiveMega's link for the "12AA 3D M*G" (I bought the Chrome version)

Here is FiveMega's link for the FM3V2 (I bought two heads and this is for the Chrome FM3V2).

Wow, now this is very appealing, but I generally don't like using AAs due to charging times, runtime, and self discharge... is there a 4xli-ion combination that would fit in this tube?

That's a DAMN good price.

You've got at least $500 in original cost parts in that baby. Just to give more options, I think you might be able to remove FM's low resistance bulb holder and use a regulated switch from AlanB or JimmyM if you wanted. A number of Li-Ion combinations could be used as well.

Good Luck DMC

I came to the light...,

The light from FiveMega came with Titanium 1800 NIMH high drain batteries, so that is what I have been using since. The OSRAM 62138 bulb running at 13.2 volts pulls about 9.2 amps. Please see LuxLuthor's measurements at http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h75/pike444/bulbs/62138.jpg

I don't have a lot of experience with high drain Lithium batteries, but you might be able to use a sleeve and spring modification with either three AWs IMR 26500s or IMR 18650s. However, the batteries need to provide about 9.2 amps without going :poof: However, at only 10.8 volts you would still not have enough volts for a OSRAM 62138.
Sorry

LuxLuthor thanks!
