It occurs to me that most everyone would benefit from having a single thread with beamshots from pretty much any drop-in we can find for the most common sizes.

I think it would be great if they could all be taken:
1. In the same location
2. With the same object(s) illuminated
3. Indoors to better control conditions
4. With the same camera using the same settings
5. Using the same host, 1 per type.
6. Lightmeter ratings?

I have the camera and motivation, but no location or money :broke:

Is there anyone who would be willing to volunteer?

Perhaps if there are enough "yes" votes, manufacturers/dealers might be willing to offer discounts/test modules?

That second link was great, and is close to what I had in mind, but it has a couple things that hold it back from what I'm thinking of:

1. They use mostly different flashlights. While that's nice, it doesn't make for a very controlled environment. To make sure you have controlled results, each type of drop-in needs a dedicated host. For example, test all D26 size drop-ins with the same host; maybe a 6P or WE Sniper. If you don't use the same host, you can end up with very skewed results due to different bezel shapes, different types of glass, and pretty much any component that's part of the electrical circuit can change just how much power is getting to the light.

2. It's not on CPF :sigh:
