I assume that you can use a Malkoff M60 into a Surefire 9P or C3. If I have not just embarrassed myself with that assumption, would this result in a longer runtime than the normal 1 1/2 hours for an M60?

I think the best battery setup for this is two 17500's. That's what I've been using. Not sure about runtime...probably 3 hours?

It will work just fine. I have 5 M60's and all work great in 9 volt lights. I asked Gene before making the purchase. He warns against going above 9 volts though.

The runtime of 3 cells is at least 1.5 times that of 2 cells. If you're using a low amperage device like the M60LL, it might push 1.6 or 1.7.

I was right at the same junction a few days ago, 9P vs. C3. I got 9P for an awesome price of about $60. But then I found out it did not have the more durable HA-III finish. Oh well. Its finish seems to hold pretty well. If it starts peeling, I will just apply the NP3 finish by Robar. Should run $50 I would think, which should put me in the same price range as C3 anyway.

has anyone experience 6P or 9P peeling? Would like to see pics if possible.

Now regarding cells, tough choice. I like the compact stock body of 9P. I also want the greater runtime of 2x18500 or better yet 2x18650 but I wonder if it will cease to be an EDC lite with the latter. The stock 9P is kind of pushing it.

I wonder if I should just get 17500 and spares also. You can easily revert to primaries if you have to. Such is not the case with 2x18650. I think with 18500 body, you can still use primaries if you get an insert, as they should be pretty loose inside. Actually 123s are kind of loose inside the stock body, I had to wrap some paper around them so they stay quiet.

That answers my question, I was wondering you get more lumens out of the M60 module. Apparently you get greater mAh capacity resulting in greater runtime. Good news anyway.

etc,
two 18500's or 18650's will NOT fit inside the 9P.

Only two 17500's will fit. I use them in my 9P. They work great with the P90 bulb.

I'm going to choose the 6P route plus 1 battery extender. It's very versatile since I have option either 6 or 9 volts.

My vote for the C3 is well............... apparent.
2X17500's are a wonderful thing indeed.
Not a thing wrong with the 9P though.
