Does anyone know/seen anything about a Streamlight, 5-watt luxeon with 3x3-volt (123) lithiums? Sounds like it would be pretty hot to me! 85 lumens!

On the 3-cell Streamlight, you may want to visit:

http://www.streamlight.com/tl-nf_specs.htm

and

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB3&Number=208640&Forum=All_Forums&Words=&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=100&Old=1day&Main=193892&Search=true#Post208640

I doubt that the Streamlight specs for the 5 watt Luxeon are correct.

You'd be well advised to compare with the Blaster VI or with the Space Needle II. You'll get all the info on those you want by using CPF's Search menu.

1.3 Amp-hours in the Energizer package according to http://data.energizer.com/

Office Depot sells those batteries for $11.99 a two-pack, making feeding time a $18 hole in the wallet. Please check my math but I think that costs you about $11 an hour to run this flashlight. It probably is a lot lighter than our products, but golly I do not like the prospects of feeding that little monster.

I am entirely biased and a competitor.

SureFire has the 123's at 12 for $15. That would be $3.75 per feeding. (plus shipping) Not a bad price for lithiums.

123 at how many Amp-hours? 123 is a size, technically it is a 123A for 2/3 A size battery. If anybody has a SureFire lithium handy and can read the Amp-hour rating, it would be nice to know. I am sure that the bulk packaging is a cost saver, but not a 1/5th the price multiplier. If SureFire is producing a 1.3 Amp-hour 123A lithium that they can make money selling for a fifth the price of an Energizer, they are Alpha competitors and I salute them.

Good info on the battery price, though!

1.3 amp hours is measured at a discharge rate of 30ma, a rate good for single 5mm LEDs. Start going on higher discharge rates like 1 amp and you'll get maybe 1.1 AH.

Having 2 of li-ion bat to replace 3 x 123 cells, running cost will even be lower:)

And if you select appropriate Vf for direct drive, very efficient. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
