Hi ! I'm considering building a lidar for aerosol backscatter using laser diodes.
Is it possible to couple several laser diodes into one lens and drive them together? This is a pulsed application. I think that the electrical part is straight forward but not sure how to do this optically. Can I just bundle them all near the focus of a lens?

for combining multiple wavelengths dichros are the easiest route, for combining 2 beams of the same WL, a polarized beam splitter (PBS) cube is the way to go; however this will only work for combining 2 beams into 1. Ive seen fiber optic combining setups that can do more than 2 beams but I have no personal experience with them.
