SS C3 Ultrafire flash-light

Received my AA/14500 SS C3 Ultrafire flashlight today and it works fine with a AA battery, but when I switch it on with a protected 14500 battery it gives one sudden flash and stays off. This is a true flash-light with the protecetd cells. tried another 14500 and the same result. :shakehead

Any similar experiences with possible fixes will be appreciated.

I had problems with my SS C3 on a 14500 it ran very hot and then dimmed, worked fine on any other kind of AA. So I swapped the pill for a Rexlight pill and all was good

I am getting quite annoyed with these flashlights that need mods to work as advertised. At least my two R2 Auroras seem to be fine for the 1st day.
