I did and not just Botach!

I deleted it but I think it was for an eternal light and it definitely was from a company I had never heard of. Anyone else get this? They were offering nothing but the light so I think it had to be targeted to flashlight folks.

I also got my near daily Botach spam, one was for something I wanted, darn my memory! I expect it from Botach, I have purchased from them but this other one??? I am curious how they found me?

Hey Dave-

Yes, the subject title on one of them was something to the effect of "Brightest of them all... " and the other one was "Salut something something... "

I don't know what it is, but since posting my email in my profile, I've received an incredible amount of spam in my In Box. I usually write it off to coincidence, and that's all. I really don't know what to make of it - and I suppose I'm just making one too many assumptions since I do click that delete button fairly quickly without investigating further, i.e. reading the email.

Hope this is all coincidence...

hehe... well Dave, glad you posted that... I was just thinking the exact same thing - scratching my head on what the heck I deleted. Hmmmmm... I'll open up the next one I see.

Good catch Dave -

-Jim

Edit - afterthought:
That pretty much narrows it down... Dave, you and I got the same spam, so we're either visitng the same flashlight vendors (most likely) or our email is being picked up from the board. Not sure how that works...

Hmmmm... I didn't get that spam, so I'm pretty sure their spider didn't harvest CPF for email addresses. Let me check for that subject line from past messages... (checking...) Nope! No such thing here.

I've gotten the shakelight spam, but not recently. Didn't get this more recent one either... I don't think it's a crawler. Otherwise, everyone would've gotten it.

FYI: I didn't get any flashlight spam to my CPF registered address.

Can someone send me a copy?

I actually complained directly to the shakelight folks about their spam and they answered me back politely saying that they would have their affiliates remove me from their spam lists.

It took almost a week before I started getting their spam again.

This tells me 2 things. The company is aware and have purposefully hired companies to send their spam. And that they are constantly buying or scanning the web for new email addresses to spam.

The result of this is that I will never ever own anything produced by that company. The marketing decisions they have made have ruined it for me and I hope for everybody here. I don't care how cool you think their product is, if you buy it you are supporting spam.

I would ask that everybody please boycot those guys until they figure out that they are pissing off the entire world with their advertising and choose another method. Like purchasing a banner here on CPF!

Anyway, let me sum up. Foreverlight = spam, spam= /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif, if you buy their stuff and I find out about it then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif for you too.

Rest assured you`ll never see a Foreverlight review on my site! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The only flashlight related message that could be remotely considered Spam that I`ve had lately was from Wolf Eyes/Copia, telling me about their Cobra light - and that was sent internally from their own private mailing list, and not from the usual anonymous, underhanded, sneaky and downright deceitful Chinese lot that most junk seems to come from, despite claiming to be from the States.

Since I do not tolerate Spam, I responded to them assuming they`d addressed me personally as the guy who writes for the Torch Reviews Site, thanking them for offering the light for review and giving details of my methodology and policies. And an address to post one to! Not to forget, I included the lines "regrettably the Torch Reviews Site cannot return any lights sent" and "no payment can be offered" within the message /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At the best, they`ll get the message and I`ll get another light to review. At the worst they`ll send me more internal marketing mail, in which case it`s bounced back at them and sent off to Spamcop. No big deal.....

Another product I will never buy since I`m sick of hearing about it every single day:

Norton System Works.

There are other antiviral programs out there, ones that don`t advertize in such vile ways. Hint, hint, Symantec!

Altogether now in your best Monty Python voices:

Spam, spam, spam, spam
Spam, spam, spam, spam
Spammedy-spam, de-spammedy-spam

Imagine a café full of vikings and two old women.....

I get the norton spam too, but that is NOT from norton. It's from a company selling pirate CD's. Nortons security department finally got back to me after I complained about a dozen or so times asking them to cut off that distributor and said that they are NOT a distributor and that they are pursuing legal action.

so thats not nortons fault /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Heh... The only worst thing than flashlight spam is opening up a seemingly innocent lookin' junk mail with a "customer service" in the subject line, only to see some fine lookin'........

Hmm... Nevermind. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

James, good for you and Norton!

I haven't gotten any flashlight spam. (SPAM is a Hormel Registered Trademark, while spam is not. I like SPAM and hate spam.) So far, all of the spam I get, is porno, and I don't bloody care what sexuality it is! It is all unsolicited by me, therefore: spam.
