that's the best thing to do...if the pack is ok than you'll have to check switch/socket contacts

What are you using to charge the pack?
Have you done a good break-in cycle or 2? (trickle charge at a ~0.1C rate for around 16+ hours)?
The pack might be fine, just needs to be balanced up to a full charge nice and slow.
Other possibilities: a weak connection somewhere, when conductive metals heat up, their resistance increases.
