I'll try to help out a little since I owned a LF3. I thought the light was nice and I liked the versatality. The LF3 was on the smaller side for a CR123 light but not the smallest. I have a LF2X which has the same UI. I like the AAA format better for EDC.

Between the LF3 and the LF4, the LF4 is just a bit shorter and is the same diameter as the AA version LF5 (now discontinued).

I beleive a RCR-2 has approximately the same energy capacity as a AAA-14400 rechargable cell. I would guess the CR-2 has similar energy density to a Lithium AAA or close. So it comes down to whether you want a shorter fatter light or an AAA version that is slimmer and longer. They probably have similar runtime and output.

The CR2 has a larger OP reflector than the AAA LF2X and uses a SSC emitter. The LF2X uses a Q5 Cree. The beam profiles will be different. Hope that helps.
