So I had two computers running on win XP on my home wireless network, they can see and access the shared file folder no problem.

One of them crapped out, so I went and bought a laptop running win vista. Now it can connect to the wireless work no problem, but if I go to start>network I only see this computer name, and don't see the shared folders from the other computer running win XP. What am I not doing right? This is my first computer with win vista so I'm clueless here.

Thanks for the help. I changed workgroup on both computer to the same one. Now xp can see and access public folder on vista all the time. Vista however, only can find xp sometimes, weird.

On the Vista PC.

Go to start button / Network......
Then near top of window select network and sharing center......
Then change 'network discovery' (and others if wanted) to "ON".

:)

Thanks, already did that. It seems to be working right now, I'll see if it'll keep working by the time I get up tomorrow.

I have my home pc's set up the same way. I use Microsoft sync toy to synchronize my documents. Glad to hear you got it working!
