I've got a Husky brand light that has an old cree star in it and I wanna replace it with a Q5 from DX.

I can't really tell what kind ot driver is in the pill now, so I figured I should just replace it while I'm in there.

The light takes a pair of D cells, so does DX have a circuit board for 3v and under input with output for a Q5? I'm thinking 3.7v at 1000ma would be optimal output.

Also, I prefer single mode lights.

Or, should I just keep the driver that's in there since it's working fine?

DX really seems to be lacking in the drivers-without-10234871-modes department.

You could always just use some Li-ion cells.

Does it use a Cree? Stare are pretty universal for high power LEDs. Depending on the voltage to the LED, just swapping the LED could work.
