I was reading a book today and the author quoted a poem by William Ernest Henley named "Invictus" which is Latin for "Unconquered" first published in 1875. If you google Henley, you will see he suffered a lot of "Circumstance" in his life!
I don't know if SureFire named the light after the poem or not, but given the text of the poem I think it is certainly possible. I just thought those of you including myself who will probably buy the Invictus would be interested in this trivia. Here are the words to the poem.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Be interesting to ask SureFire where they got the name wouldn't it?
