Bump..i'm also a bit handy, if anyone has a reflector with a smaller hole and can tell me the best way to open it up... hat size drill bit, sanding, dremel?

:candle: Nobody is running this bulb? Come on where are these?!

Everyone is running this lamp. You can just buy a reflector from FM or Litho123 and bore it out to 10.5mm. I recall that my KD SMO had a wide enough opening, but the lamp was just too tall so it wouldn't focus properly. I had Mirage_Man bore out my FM VLOP which works super with the 5761.

You don't need a 10.5mm hole. 9.5mm is enough (0.37 inch). It's the same diameter as a Surefire MN-series LA pillar.

Perhaps you could bore out the Bi-pin socket instead.

With my Mag85 I also had a focus problem with the KD SMO 8.5mm reflector.

I unscrewed the cam a little bit (1mm) and bored out the bi-pin socket so the bulb sits deeper. Works perfectly now.

Greg states that his reflector have 0.377" (9.58mm) openings. I tried three different 5761 lamps in three of his reflectors and none will fit, not even close. There are a few other posts by members who also recommend 10.5mm.

10.5mm will give you extra room, I suppose; but I do sometimes use a 5761 with a Fivemega MN bipin holder in a Surefire KT4 head, so the bulb will actually fit through a 9.5mm hole.

It's easy. A couple minutes with a rolled up piece of wet+dry 320 rotated in the hole. Keep testing with the bulb - it's easy to enlarge it too much. Rinse well with water, rinse with distilled water, then dribble some isopropyl alcohol over it and dab softly with a microfiber cloth.

It depends on the particular bulb. Some are slightly bigger at the bottom. None of the 4 or 5 I've got fit without enlarging. They need about 0.5 to 0.8 mm more.

Yes, I believe there may be some variation. I think I do remember having a slightly over-sized one before.

It must be to do with batches. My most recent batch from Litho123 all fit OK.
