I just looked at the link to lightsandknives (from the banner ad. on CPF)
and saw their led lenser range.

The one that really interests me is the X7 Light Cannon

Its very hard to tell much about the leds and optics from looking at the
picture. I'm thinking that the leds look like Cree-XREs and would have to
be quite current bins in order to produce the claimed output of 1068 lumens.

I'm not at all sure what optics are used and haven't a clue what the resultant
beam would be like.

I was wondering if anyone with some knowledge about this light could chime in.

"Light Cannon" reminded me of the UK Light Cannon 100. It's nice to note that the newer light has twice the output!

Cree, bin at least Q4, LL makes their own optics. Comparison pics (X7 and some HIDs).

Thanks for the link. It looks like the X7 can hold its own with some
of the less powerful HIDs which is impressive in itself.

I'd love to know what type of optics Led Lenser are using though.

Are they little Aspheric lenses?

Its a pity that LedLenser's "Details" are really lacking in technical specs.

I noticed that this takes 4 D-cells and that the light is 16" long.

I'm sure that it could be modded to be much more compact with
1 or 2 li-ion D-cells

Hi guys,

I'm a NOOB so you'll have to excuse me if I make no kinda sense. I'm sure once some CPF "Flashaholics" get their hands on these we'll start to have tons of good testing info.

Here are the specs on the LED that I just got from LED Lenser: CREE LED type: XREWHT-L1 class: Q5. I wouldn't count on that always being the case though. From what I understand, LED Lenser will adopt new and brighter LED's as they become available and start using them in current production models.

Regarding the optics, I don't have one of these yet so I'm not entirely sure. As soon as I know more, I'll post back to this thread.
