If this seems like a dumb question, sorry. This is my first mod.
I don't yet have the 6 cell xenon bulb, or batteries, but got some
5/8" ID heater hose today and it seems to have to much free play
in the tube, between 1/8" and 1/4". Is this normal or did I get the
sized wrong hose?

Re: dumb 2c to 3-123a heater hose question

Thats normal. as long as you cut the hose long enough so that the spring compresses it a little you should have no issues.

A lot of people started out in this hobby the way you are.

Gonna build it tomorrow. Why do this? To keep the hose centered? or so the
little 123 batteries don't get dented in to much? Just curious.

Ideally I like to have a the spring enter the hose a little bit so the hose won't move side to side and you avoid that rattling feeling when using the light

Keep in mind that there are different grades of heater hose also. If yours is that loose, you probably got some cheap stuff that I wouldn't use on my vehicle. Hit up another parts store and ask for the good stuff in the back.

First mod went well but recharge?

My 2c mag mod works well, maybe 3 times as bright. Is there a rechargeable option for the 3 sf123 batteries I'm using now? I'm using the kpr118 7.2v bulb also.

never mind. beam is very yellowish, and badly skewed. No more 'mods' for me.

Mod only required the right bulb

My simple 2c 2 3-123/118 was better than stock, but way to yellow. Tried the 112 bulb today, and it's very bright and white too. Now if it lasts through the 3-123's without burning out all is good. Thanks for all the help with it.

ps- could not find any mag 5 or 6 cell krypton or xenon bulb locally or online anywhere so had to use the RS.

Is mod brigher than TL-3 or 9P?

Got excited about the simple mod, mag2c 3-123 with KPR112. IMO it's brighter than my
magcharger 40k CP light. Very white bright beam. Already had the light, so it cost $10.
Reconsidering buying a 9P or TL-3 now.

If you know of these 3 lights, is this mod brighter than the other 2? Thanks.

If it's brighter than a MagCharger, it'll be brighter than a 9P or a TL-3. Larger, but brighter.

Using 2 18650 in series is a good replacement for the 3 CR123. That will give you a higher capacity setup with basically the same voltage.

You will probably need a spacer since the 2 18650 are a bit longer than3 CR123.

Something like this can used

As far as bulbs are concerned you should look into the ROP low output bulb. This ios the Pelican 3854 pack

http://www.brightguy.com/products/Big_D_Rechargeable_(SLA)_Xenon_Lamp.php

It comes with two bulbs a high and a low. The high is too powerful to be used with the 18650's but the low is fine. I will gladly send you a few of these bulbs to get you started just PM me. Furthermore with the low bolb you should be able to use the stock reflector as long as you use the light in short bursts (powerful bulbs melt the plastic reflector.

The reason why the 118 bulbs appear yellow compared to the 112 is that the 118 is a higher voltage bulb so it won't be "overdriven" as hard as the 112 which has a lower spec voltage than the 118.

Overdriving is the practice of running incan bulbs at higher voltages to gain more brightness and whiteness in the beam (at the cost of bulb life). A from a given power source a lower voltage bulb will be overdriven more than a higher voltage driven by the smae power source.
