I have modded these CMG Infinities to Cree XR-E R2/WG.
I call them CMGCREE
Cree R2/WG tint is yellower than a K2 TFFC but not green.
The head is polished out and stippled with Krylon Clear Coat.
As there is no optic, the output at the emitter is as rated by below chart.
The reflector in the head does form a ringed beam in the center of the flood.
On the inside they are bored out for multiple Battery options.

The Driver is a MadMax+.
The voltage supplied to the driver sets the output level.
They will run on multiple battery options, AA, CR2, Li-Ion.
The AA drops right in.
A CR2 requires an included spacer and O-ring.
A 14500 Li-Ion will drop right in like the AA, must use Protected.

A Li-Ion will run at 1000ma. On a 14500 you get ~45minutes of 250+ lumens (270lm jtr1962 rated).
Intermittent use is recommended as there isn't enough heat sinking.
I did run my EDC CMGCREE for 45min straight on the PhotonFest Quarry Hike.
But that is with an outdoor air temperature of ~55 degrees and handheld.

I run mine on a Duracell CR2. A runtime test showed 1 hour on a CR2 at 700ma and by the R2-bin output table that's 210lm. Half output at 30 minutes by eye but useful till the end of the hour.

The NiMH 2700mAh ran for 3 hours to half output and is still running at 5½ hours.
The AA is the low but Long running option, My original P4 version ran for 10 hours on a Energizer Lithium AA.

The chart below was made by jtr1962 using the emitter that is now in the CMGCREE on my keychain.
Yes he ran it up to 2 Amps and it survived and runs fine.
Though the R2s in the 2 CMGCREE's up for sale are from the same reel that doesn't guarantee they are the same output.

Water resistant, I do not recommend submersing as its just Arctic Alumina Epoxy between the LED and head.

I don't know of a driver that could fit in a ARC AAA that could power up a XR-E. I think you'd have to dead bug it. LDO Flupic (Draco)comes to mind but then your stuck with 10440 Li-Ion

Intriguing.

Around what would you estimate the lumen output on a lithium AA?

I have very few stock lights, my best comparison is against Rayovac Sportsman Extreme 1AA Headlamp.
Also running on a E Lithium, with the diffuser over the white headlamp LED the CMGCREE is 2x brighter.
Ceiling bounce with the headlamp on spot and the CMGCREE is 1x brighter.
As the Sportsman Extreme is 45lum I'd estimate the CMGCREE at 55~60lum.
This light is "Mule" like in output with a little center from the reflector but not much.

Got it, Brian.

The output is impressive on a CR2 and an RCR2, and still decent on an Eneloop. I don't think I have a fresh L91 to try, but I'll look around tonight.

Nice work!
