I just took out everything I have in my pocket, wrist and neck to put on a kitchen scale to see how much crap I carry around with me everyday. And I found out everything together weight almost 2 pounds! (881g/31oz) Before I started in this EDC stuff all I had with me were keys, wallet, watch and phone.

So how much weight do you carry around on person?

Usually around 20 lbs, though sometimes when I'm going further from home my backpack gets close to 30 if we include the water.

Ok got my DX scale a few months ago and haven't really used it so here we go:

KEYS 79.5g

WALLET 64.2g

PHONE 162.3g

Total weight is a whopping 306 grams.

P.S. wallet usually weighs more on payday:broke:

...

Ooh, that scale looks interesting. What is it called, how much did it cost, and what is the range it's capable of weighing?

Nope don't want to know.

If I know then it gets heavy & I won't want to cart it around with me possibly with disastrous consequences.

A lot...

Work bag - 20 or so kilos (50ish lbs)

Contents of jacket including a lot of keys usually around 12kg (26lb). I have to carry quite a lot of keys.

Days off 1211g (A bit under 3lb) or less depending on which light is on my belt.

FYI your wallet will only increase in weight 1 gram per bill added to the mix.

My EDC gear? Hmmm.

Laptop: 7 lbs or so with accessories
Leather Portfolio: 8 oz
Titanium Toys: Say a pound (knife and other toys)
Car keys: An oz or so (keeping it light)
Maui Jims: An oz or two
Watch: A few ounces depending upon the watch
Cell phone: Far too heavy- too much email! Those electrons are crazy heavy

The burdens of being a dad, carrying a mortgage, private school, crazy-busy job, and the best family a man could ever want? : weightless

Lately I have been ditching the wallet. Very uncomfortable to sit on. I use a small camera case instead. I use one of those plastic photograph holders and carry 1 credit card, drivers license and AAA insurance card in that. I cary a couple 20s folded over for cash.

I have no idea how much this all weighs, but I have 3 basic EDC setups...

Heavy:

Middle weight:

Lightest:

Closes up nicely and beats sitting on a wallet or keys jabbing into my groin:faint:. Wear this on my belt, just behind my hip. I position the CC and DMV license between the torch and keys, that way it minimizes scratching the light.

We were just talking about this on another forum, take a look at this: http://www.capsulcase.com/en/01.html

I picked one up today and it's pretty neat, managed to fit all my cards and cash in it and it's much smaller than my wallet.

Too much!!!

Most of my time my EDC goes into my backpack (CamelBak BFM) as I include a second flashlight (M2) plus full SC1, first-aid kits, Garmin GPS, Motorola Iridum, DuLL notebook, charger, etc. I always include a Patagonia MARS rain jacket plus soft-shell in non-summer times.

On my body as of today are a 5.11 Field-Ops watch, Gladius, Benchmade pen, Treo 750 in pouch, and one folder plus one fixed. ~800 gramms!
