I was asked by family to help them out with some lights for a 2 week camping trip where they will not have any access to power.
I am doing a M@g 2D SSCP4 for the grown-ups but also wanted another more general light to light an area or for the kids to take along that would not blind them or matter if they dropped it in a puddle (or indeed come back at all)
I found this Host with flouresant tube. It worked but got grumpy turning on with slightly old batteries and more to the point was completely standard and we could not have that.
The white section holds the battery at the back and slides inside the yellow tube which has a pretty waterproof end and a rubber switch cover.
Remove the ballast, leave the switch, line up the heatsink and driver.
Driver is a Konlux 350ma
Epoxy the driver and the SSCP4 to the Heatsink and wire up to switch
Finished
Sorry no beamshots as it is an unfocused area light shining through a frosted plastic sheet. so could not really get anything.:scowl:
Cheap and easy and kind of satisfying that I got a light out of some bits that I did not really think that I would ever get round to using.
