New Gift Light

Im looking for a light for my father. I want it to be simple. Needs to run off of AA. No twisty, just clickie, on/off. Water and shock proof. Small EDC. It doesnt need to be really bright, up to 130 lms is just fine.

I'd say that you just described the Fenix L1D Q5 and the Nitecore D10 pretty well. The LumaPower LM301 is cheaper than both, though.

well he said simple clicky which is not the L1d. Maybe you should wait for the e20 and see how that reviews, although that is only 109 stated lumens not 130.

He doesnt have to cycle through all the modes just on and off, just like the D10/EX10 video can be used as on/off.

Would the RC-N3 work(shiningbeam has quicker shipping and also a Q5 version)?

How's 2 AA size?

It doesn't get any simpler and still have multiple modes. You can set it and forget it, and only have to loosen/tighten when you want a different mode. Operated like a single mode light 99% of the time.

I agree, i just picked up the RC-N3 (Q5 Shining beam version) for the same reason and find that it's quite acceptable, not to mention amazingly bright) for the non-flashaholics.
