Quick question: checking on sf.com and they don't list a compatible beam diffuser yet I recall people saying here that they used F04 with the L1. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, the F04 works (so does a water bottle cap!) with the L1 Cree - I have both and its a great combo!
Also, you can find this on the Surefire website by going to this link (http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/pgrfnbr/528/sesent/00) then scrolling down to "diffusion filter" and over to the E2DL and you will see the match :twothumbs

L1 Cree + F04. Walked my dog with this combination last night. HUGE flood out of a tiny, durable little light. You can't go wrong. If you need the throw, pop off the filter and your ready to go.
