What is different?

Between the Surefire F24

I can tell by the design that they don't look the same. But how are they different in use?

Perhaps one is military and one is not? That's my guess.

Do you know if they both stay in place equally good?
Are there any differences between the beams?

If you keep the BeamFilter in place then the old-style (F) will remain tight. However, unlike the current version (FM) they can loose their grip through being installed and removed often.

Also, the FM BeamFilters allow the filter to fold 'flat' along the bezel and the filter is 'held' open rather than free to flap about.

The Beam Diffuser material used by the FMx4 models is the same as used by the Classic "wide" BeamShapers.
