I am building up a few dual Cree r2 lights using a buckpuck driver and an spdt switch with resistors to give different light levels and since it is a bike light I want to make sure it is reasonably water resistant.
The buckpuck appears to be well sealed but I am wondering if there would be a problem if I 'potted' the switch terminals and resistors in a high temp silicon sealant to keep the possibility of a short to a minimum. Any thoughts?

you'd be much better off with a thermal epoxy, since silicone sealant isn't afaik a good thermal conductor. another thing you could do is add something like permatex ultra black to the seals of the lens and other places you don't expect to need to take apart frequently. Make sure to keep the places you do take apart (threads and o-rings) properly greased as well. :D

I am also putting a bike light together so thanks for the tip on permatex ultra black. I have used that before but did not think of using it as a sealant for a light - great idea.
