This is a custom made stainless steel CR123 flashlight by my friend. The three rings surrounding the head are made of carbon fibre.

The length is 6.5cm and diameter is 2.1cm.
It's twisty ON/OFF with five mode: Low/High/Strobe/SOS/Medium
The circuit is from a China custom builder named "BeiDou" (The Big Dipper?) specified in Ti lights.
It could only accept RCR123 batteries.

My English isn't good and let the pictures say something. ;)

I think it looks very interesting and would be even better with a pocket clip.
If you were able to incorporate some carbon fibre feature into the clip it would be even better.
All of this is cosmetic of course and I presume it's a fully driven Cree inside.

It does have a unique look and I like the carbon fiber......I know carbon fiber is strong and I am wondering how it does with heat sinking? What type emitter is your friend using for the light?

Re: SS CR123 flashlight with carbon fibre

Thanks everyone and I added more pics.

Forgot to mention, it's Cree XR-E Q5 LED. I think the carbon fibre is only for the look and not for heat sink. :D

My friend said it's made from carbon fibre sheet than sealed with a special glue (or plastic? I'm not sure).

Very nice.

I figured it was some carbon fiber sheet laid into grooves with some clear epoxy, but I don't know how you would stop it from just gobbing off the bottom before it's hardened. Maybe he put it on in the lathe on a slow RPM until the epoxy was hard? And then take a final cut and polish to make it all uniform. I like it.

Hi VanIsleDSM,

It's clear epoxy resin type P-307. (Maybe a local brand) The epoxy was pre-prepared by vacuum pump (?) to remove the bubble.

He made a outer sleeve, drilled a hole then injected the epoxy. After it cured, he took of the sleeve and polished the surface.

Thanks. :)
