OK, I have NEVER EVER played a multi-player game over the internet. However, I am trying (right now!) to play my cousin over the web. I click multi-player and enter his IP address as the host...but it can't find him?

Is this the sort of thing that is simple to work out? OR is it one of those incredibly complicated, so many million variables, computer problems for which no one can help you unless they know every detail of your system? In other words am I making a SIMPLE mistake?!

Thank you! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Either you or your friend must have a game SERVER running, not just the game itself. at least this is the case with most of the games i play online (mainly half life/team fortress). just out of curiosity, what game are you trying to play?

MPlayer games like Warcraft or Counterstrike, you really don't need to have a designated IP, unless maybe you're on a LAN trying to go online with your buddies at the same time.

Routers can mess up IP addresses sometimes... Other variables can, too...
