D-Mini Upgrade

I recently decided to upgrade my old Lumapower D-Mini so I purchased the Q5 drop in and the D-65 18650 battery tube. What a nice upgrade to this light! Not only is it brighter, it now has low, medium and high modes. Even more impressive is the run time on an AW protected 18650... 4 hr 15 min on high! :twothumbs

I also swapped switch covers with an old River Rock light and the D-Not So Mini can now tail stand!

All in all, a very nice upgrade. It breathed new life into an old favorite.

Anyone else upgrade their D-Minis?

I use a single speed D-Mini at work. I replaced the P4 with a Q5. The tail switch got replaced with Sure Fire's new L4 forward clickie switch.

Havent seen the upgrade mentioned in a while, I dont see it on batteryjunction. Did you order straight from ricky?

Yes, directly from Ricky. He even threw in a forward clicky.

I believe Ricky is the customer service rep at Lumapower. I've had the pleasure of dealing with him a few times. Very nice guy, always on the ball.

The upgrade was $65 shipped and consisted of the following:

1. Digital Q5 LED module for D-mini
2. D-65 power extender in TypeIII HA natural color (with enhanced battery top cover)
3. Forward clicky module (FREE)
4. Spare o rings and switch boots

The forward clicky isn't all that useful with the three level drop in so I used the single stage switch that came with the light.
