Hi,

Does any person know what type of module is used to for high power flashing, say 300 mA or so? I have read that the 555 chip does not perform well at it's "maximum" of 200 mA. Also (if there is not a high power option) where is the best place to buy 555's?

Thanks!

You may get by cheaper buying an LED light module from DX or KD with 5 or more modes as many have flashing built into them as mode 4 or 5 etc. After you get a 555 timer and wire up a power transistor and other circuitry to do the job you will find it may cost you the same amount as a premade one.

I'd recommend using the 555 to drive the gate of a power mosfet for a "direct drive" option, or use the 555 to toggle the chip-enable pin on a driver, if your LED is regulated.

What kind of mosfet and where to buy? Are there any instructions on how to do this?

A pre-built flashing module sounds good, but search results with DX and KD aren't yielding anything under that description. Thanks.
