Mini Databank? anyone up for the challenge?

ever since seeing the infamous Databank 70 on CPF I've dreamed about building a 'little Databank'.

say: 9 or 16 P4 or Q5 LED's in a square pattern on aluminum base plate.
individual aspherical optics.

since I'm a retard with electronics I'm hoping for a direct drive setup.

anyone have any advice on this endeavor?

Hmm? No aspherics, but there could be, albeit with less efficiency than the TIR optics.

The beam would be tighter with 6˚ optics and good hole alignment. Also no electrical knowledge necessary.
