Dereelight 3SD dimmer than 2SM and Fenix L2D?

I just got a Dereelight 3SD Q5 module. It was my understanding that this should be brighter than the 2SM I had before, since the 2SM was driving the LED at 1A and the 3SD is supposed to drive it at 1.2A.

To my eyes, though, the 2SM is actually brighter than the 3SD. In fact the 3SD I got seems to be dimmer than a Fenix L2D Q5 I have, which again appears to be about the same as the 2SM. I expected the 3SD to be noticeably brighter since it's being driven, supposedly, at 20% higher amperage than the 2SM but it seems noticeably visually dimmer than the 2SM.

Is this normal "luck of the draw" pill lottery or is something possibly wrong with the pill? The two other Q5's I own and one other Q5 I've used were very consistent in brightness, but this one pill seems to be very disappointing.
