I'm trying to find a better way to remove the 2D Mag switch assembly. Last time I used brute force to push it out, but that sheared off some plastic from the switch and scraped the back of the tube on the way out. Anybody have a better idea?

thanks.

Carefully peel out the rubber switch cover. The hole through the center of the switch provides access to a set screw which locks the switch in place. Use a small Allen wrench (hex key) of the appropriate size to loosen the screw. The switch should come out easily through the tail end.

For older Mag-Lites, you'd need a special spanner wrench to remove a threaded locking ring from the head end, though it doesn't sound like that's what you have.

Hope this helps - John

At least you didn't go through the trouble of taking out the thin steel c-clip first only to realize you can drop the switch out the back end instead! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
