Arc6 - getting into Settings Menu?

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, i have to say...

HOW THE H*CK do you enter the Settings Menu?

I've clicked (twisted to stage 1, pushed the piston to stage 2) 10, 20, 30 times, i've tried clicking slowly, i've tried clicking fast, i've tried long clicks, short clicks... And still, nothing. Nada. Zilch. Is there a trick to it? Am i missing something?

PS: Mine's a pre-production 0025.

That was a bit uncalled for...
Like i've mentioned in my OP, i did everything by the book (and tried variations not in the book).

Anyway, i've managed to get into the Settings Menu in the meantime, but can't seem to pull it off consistently (i.e. every time). Either it's a timing issue, or i'm intermittently losing contact when pushing on the piston (so some of my clicks get interpreted as two clicks). Should there be a particular length to the clicks or a pause between them?

I don't know, I just searched for "pre-production" in the Arc forum, there were several hits.
