Is the older Surefire E1L with KL1 Luxeon III still good?

I am able to get a new one for 80 bucks. But I want to know if it's worth it since there is a new 2 stage KX1 one out that runs longer then the 25 lumen for 4 hours runtime of the KL1? I also read you can mod these with newer LED. How would they compare then? what do you guys think?

i have the E1L eith KL1 head. don't like the short regulated runtime :thumbsdow, its under 2hrs. unless draining batteries is your thing. beam-wise, its got very little spill. it won't be much issue if its being paired off with another floody light.

heard somewhere the next ver of E1L with KX1 head last about 6hours (single mode). that might have made a much beeter choice.

Still, the old KL1 is very white in tint, compared to many pukey green KX1 out there! I like the Lux III with the tight spot... very nice beaterlight!!
