I have for sale a modded Arc LS. The mod is done using a custom circuit board.
The purpose of the circuit board is to accommodate the larger footprint of Cree XRE emitter, as opposed to luxeon footprint.
Though designed for XRE emitter, the footprint can accommodate luxeon, Cree and SSC.
(for SSC, you will need to isolate the slug)
This mod used a Cree Q5 WC, cut down McR17XR, and UCL Lens.
the McR17XR provides a beam that has a very nice hotspot with smooth transition to spill, typical of McR XR reflector + Cree XRE.
The current driven to the LED is 350 mA. When the battery is depleted, the IC will throttle the current to ~100 mA.
This mod can run from 2AA batteries, or a single primary CR123.
Due to the boosting nature of the board used, the use of rechargeable liion (3.7V) is not recommended. The IC can take rechargeable voltage, however, you will waste more power than you will want and the light will get hot fast.

An Arc LS head in bare aluminum, with the said mod above, polished.
2AA tube pack

CR123 Twistie pack, polished.
A kroll clicky switch is now included.
