Safe to charge D cells with a BC-900?

I'm considering using a LaCrosse BC-900 for charging D cell rechargeables, placed in battery holders. The manual states that it uses Delta V for charge termination and "overheat protection to protect rechargeable batteries from over-charging."

Since the temperature monitor would be out, is this a good idea? Anyone doing this, or am I being too cheap? :)

Hello Gator762.

The BC-900 has a capacity limit of 3000 mAh so you have to restart it several times with decent cells.

When charging 3-4 cells at the same time (10A cells) it is hard for the charger to detect the cutoff signal from the cells (0,1C).

When chargin two cells at 1,8A it is little better but almost 0,2C is also hard for the charger to detect.
