i think 3c fit in a mag2d. would 3aa fit in a 2c using the space in the tailcap? or just the 3c

I just grabbed a 2C and dropped 3AA's into it, and it is longer than the tailcap, so I guess not. At least, not one on top of the other. It looks like it could be bored for 2 wide though.
But, I could go 4 deep with my 2/3A.

You can do 3x 4/5 SubCs in a Mag2C, no spring modification needed.
With the modded C tailcap you do (for 2 x AW C cells) almost allows 3 Sub Cs to fit in a Mag 2C.
It looks like you bored the tailcap , then put a small sleeve in the base. (Or was it just bored and what I think is a sleeve is unbored tailcap?)
Whichever , without the sleeve or bore all the way and 3 Sub Cs will just fit
with a piece of rubber wrapped with braid or similar in the base of the cap.
