I was looking for a light at is a bit larger than typical size of some of my "tactical" lights (ie Tk11 or the M20).

I was looking at the Raidfire Spear

https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=93&products_id=508

or Deree DBS V2

This is not an EDC. I was looking for something with more throw.

What others should I be considering?

I would consider it as long as the price is close to these two lights?

I am not too absolute on many options. I would like momentary mode and a rechargable cell option.... preferrably 18650.

Right behind you with a 6D Mag623 !!
um.. those two links are the same

fix the DBS link

I'm sure it isn't in the same quality group but DX (at least used to) has a light called the "Super Far Thrower" in 2X18650 format.

let me go find it......

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3356

It's only a P4 but someone mentions the WF-800 in a review as being Q5 and same beam profile.....but I went and it says P4 also.
WF-800 is also muti mode but no indication of memory :green:

Perhaps you just like expensive lights (me too :twothumbs just don't have the money) but it seems like the "super far thrower" could be upgraded to a R2 and perhaps a different driver, like the one in sku 11074, for less than 1/2 the price.

I've used DX 2X18500 lights and they aren't too awful in size.
Seems like that sku 3356 has a larger 52 mm (mag size) bezel diameter though......... ok that might be a deal breaker.........

anyway... hope you like whatever you get.
Good luck.

oops...fixed that link

I certainly like the price of the light you mention much better. As longs as the light is of good quality ....cheaper the better.

Thank you for the link. I read a comment on the light and they mention it is comparable to this light:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4542

Seem to be very similar. I definately like the prices.

This one seems like would out throw both...

Anyone have any feed back on this Ultrafire WF-1000L?

I built one for a friend who hunts alot and isn't allowed to use a light, but possesion of a "ordinary flashlight" is OK.
I replaced the emitter with a Q5, driver with..... um... maybe the one that's in sku 11074 @DX.... and put a clickie in the tail.

Current tailswitch is a momentary/twist for on.

You won't find the quality to be surefire or anything, and I believe the light benefits GREATLY from some upgrades, but it seemed to be a rugged light and he is quite happy with it.

The body is very similar to a WF-500 which I currently own.
It has provided quite some amount of good service and was carried on a duty belt for at least 1 year.

I haven't gone to look for the driver/switch/emitter yet a DX but maybe someone else can make suggestions.

I don't know, and none of the reviews/questions state if this has memory.
A multi mode light without memory sucks. :green:
Emitter isn't any better either.
I've never tried half presses (changing modes) with this kind of switch.
Might look around for multi mode twisty threads if you really want to keep that switch with modes.
For $10 more you could "roll your own" so to speak.

you can see by the beamshot that the hotspot is VERY large
NOT a thrower

your original suggestions were throwers
the P7 should be really bright, but in no general direction

From what I have read, if you want the ultimate thrower you can't go wrong with the DBS V2.

I have a Tiablo A9 on the way, which is supposed to be pretty good too, plus it is half the price of the DBS

How about this? It should throw further then all the above mentioned lights.

The A9 is available at other place, but at a higher price.

Yes, that is an ultimate thrower. However, I am not comfortable spending that kind of money on a light produced without a company involved in production. I commend the producer on the product, but just not an option for me. Mean no offense to anyone. I realize I may be missing out.
