All else being equal, which it rarely is, doubling the reflector diameter will increase the lux reading by a factor of four once you are many diameters distant from the source. This statement is approximate only, and is subject to a bunch of qualifying statements which I am omitting.

Doug,

Great to see you post! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'd like to add that all else being equal, the larger diameter reflector increases the Lux reading because it REDUCES the beam angle. In other words, Lux readings are definitely effected by beam angle and one method of decreasing this is with a larger diameter reflector; ceterus paribus. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So then, would that mean that the peak of the lux reading can be interpreted as a candlepower measurement?
