Might want to check if it fluoresces under UV. If so, it could be fun to have an optional button to press to shine a UV light on it.

How much light do you think you will need?

Also what power will you run it off of?

I'm thinking a Cree or Seoul with the right optic should work well.

Around the head maybe four -1 watt cool led's. The fins could hold up to 20 or more

I can use 12vdc volt power supply up to 8 amps with no problem.

I know a little, I love Cree, I think its the best by far.

Please explain right optic, I'm sorry I'm a newbie, RIGHT OPTIC?

Do you have an example of Right Optic ?

I'm going to need a driver for each LED

depending on the driver you're using you may be able to run several diodes in series

You want this driver. You don't need any optic for this purpose. You pretty much only need to make sure the LEDs are protected from people touching them and ridding the domes off.

You probably need one white XR-E running at 350mA pointed at the meteorite and use the rest of the driver's capacity to run amber/orange/red XRs also at 350mA. You'll probably get three of each to run ok off of that MicroDriver9.
