Re: WHICH IS A GOOD DX P7 LED FLASHLIGHT TO BUY

For short to medium distances the MTE 5 mode's floodier beam is more useful than many thrower lights. Throw is not all that bad.

Beamshot MTE 5 mode P7 left Ultrafire C3 Q5 14500 right.
My MTE 5 mode P7 hotspot is as bright as my Ultrafire C3 Q5 with 14500 Li-on battery. It is just bigger.

The 2*18650 P7 torches are fairly new. There have been 1 dead unknown cause, 1 dead circuit board burnt out, 1 circuit board replaced. I would wait for some reliability (or lack of) reports before getting the '1000 lumens'.

I have a sneaking suspicion all the big head P7 lights are using the same reflector. I have that reflector in my P7 M@g. It does give a tighter hotspot than the MTE P7.

Beamshot Mag P7 DX reflector left MTE 5 mode P7 right.

The Aurora AK-P7 SSC P7 900-Lumen 5-Mode LED Flashlight (1*18650)

does not have a lot of discussion as most people bought the 2 mode version.

The TrustFire SSC P7 C-BIN 900-Lumen 5-Mode LED Flashlight (1*18650) is fairly new but the reviews at DX seem good.

Aurora AK-P7-3 has good opinions.

Yes, most of them uses the same reflector (sku.12229) but WF-1000L has different one - wider and deeper and has siggnificantly better throw.

WF-1000L

Deeper reflector than other P7 flashlight + P7 + 2*18650 + 2800mAh board = Powerful flashlight + good throw + good runtime

I had the MTE 5 mode which was crap, perhaps I just got a bad light. Output was only around 300 lumens (ceiling bounce test) on a fresh 18650 and tint was on the purple side. Light was flickering on high.

A few weeks later I got the MTE 2 mode, which had almost double the lightoutput, better tint and no flickering at all. Talk about DX lottery. :duh2:

If you want a quality light, I suggest you contact Mac for a P7 Mag.
I have one of these. You get what you pay for.
