I was just wandering around the darkened house with my SL Twin Task 2L so I didn't have to turn the lights on. I was using the LEDs since I didn't want to run down my almost dead cells using the incan (I use this as my vampire light.) I noticed that while the center hotspot had a definite bluish tint, the spill around it was an almost perfect white! Is this an optical illusion or something, or I am I just seeing things?

its common to all nichia CS/GS emitters... blue-ish hot-spot with warm/yellow flood. I use a hole punch and punch a round dot out of masking tape. Stick it onto my Inova X1-V2 lens and it diffuses the blue center spot and blends the colors into one. Very nice, although it soaks up some lumens.
