Needed: utility program to view broadband I/O

I'm looking for a utility program that allows you to see (in numerical or graphical format) data that is entering or leaving your PC via broadband internet connection.

The reason I need this is because the "data transfer in progress" indicator in my Windows XP system tray almost always indicates that something is being transmitted or received, and I want to know which: if it is something coming into my computer or if it is something leaving it.

As a result, page loads are rather slow - as slow as or even slower than dial-up.

are you using updated software for antivirus and other junk?

Try "ethereal", a free package for looking at data. Or Wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org/about.html)

My cable modem is set up so that I see traffic for all of my neighborhood, so I added a firewall between the cabel modem and my PC network.
